Biography:

Alexei Taylor is a Brooklyn-based multimedia artist. In 2005, he received his Master's degree from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program ITP("whose mission is to explore the imaginative use of communications technologies") one of the leading programs in the United States for bringing together arts and digital technologies. Alexei is an interdisciplinary artist working in digital media as has an illustrator, designer, developer, animator and programmer. He has created special effects for video installations featured in the Whitney Museum and P.S.1 and has had several gallery shows in NYC and Mexico City including a successful solo show, "Ameriquarium" in NYC. He has served as design and technology consultant for many important artists and activists from across the Americas, working with them to imagine ways in which they can use digital technologies for their own artistic practice and helping them organize their materials in fully curated online, multimedia web-cuadernos. Additionally, Alexei has eight years experience in design and development, creating websites for up and coming companies, hospitals, universities and organizations; developing interactive direct mail applications; and designed brochures, advertisements, postcards, flyers, logos and illustrations and animations. As a teacher, Alexei has enjoyed offering several graduate courses at NYU's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, leading digital technologies workshops in Performance Studies at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, and teaching full time at Gibbs College in Manhattan since 2003. Internationally, he has been invited to teach technology workshops in Spanish at CRIM-Centro Regional de Investigacion Multidisciplinaria-a graduate research center located in Cuernavaca for the National University of Mexico (UNAM). Currently Alexei is illustrating two graphic novels and teaching advanced web applications in New York City.
